All roads lead to the City of Naga, Cebu on April 28, 2019 as Sun Life Financial Philippines holds the Sun Life 5150 Triathlon Cebu along with the Go For Gold (GFG) Sunrise Sprint, in a bid to highlight its health and wellness thrust.
The races, which aim to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and embrace multisport training and racing, will be held in partnership with Sunrise Events, Inc. (SEI). The Olympic-distance Sun Life 5150 Triathlon Cebu race includes a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer bike, and a 10 kilometer run; while the Sunrise Sprint includes a 750 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike, and a 5 kilometer run. both races, the two events are ideal for triathlon newbies as well as those who have graduated from the lronKids races but are still into the sport.
“At Sun Life, we aim to provide Filipinos different avenues to enrich their health and wellness journey, whether they are already deep into their fitness goals or are just discovering their passion for it,” Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa said. “Sun Life 5150 perfectly exemplifies that purpose, and this is why we are thrilled to be sponsoring this event.”
Professional triathletes Sam Betten, Dan Brown, and Mitch Robins of Australia, as well Guam standout Manami lijima will vie for the $10,000 prize money. Meanwhile, TriLife Magazine will also hold a Cebu
Team Challenge, where one team will consisting of five age-groupers, regardless of gender, will be crowned as the Best Tri Team of Cebu.
With all these exciting events happening in the City of Naga, the city will be highlighted before a global audience as it steps up to host world class activities.
According to City of Naga Mayor Kristine Chiong, hosting the two events hold a deeper meaning for the city. “It’s a part of our recovery and healing from the deadly landslide which ravaged the city in September 2018,” she shared. “Hosting the event will bring positivity and unity to the community.”
To ensure the safety of the Participants and the smooth conclusion of the races, all events will be held within Naga. The swim into the Cebu Strait will have a rolling gun start which begins and ends at the Boardwalk; the bike will bea five-loop course, which will travel northward along the Cebu South Road and
turn at Inayagan; while the run will be a two-loop course going south along the Cebu South Road, with a turnaround near Tinaan National High School. un, Life Financial
