Galileo Enrichment Learning Center, renowned for introducing the Singapore Math program to the Philippines, is today inaugurating its cooperation with the GT Northeast Academy in Liloan, Cebu.
GT Northeast Academy, which was just launched March of last year, will be working hand in hand with the Galileo Enrichment Learning Center to upgrade the school’s academic programs by incorporating innovative way of teaching Mathematics and English.
The launching started with a motorcade around Liloan, followed by a Holy Mass in the GT Northeast Academy school grounds, and a ribbon cutting and blessing ceremony.
The inaugural program will also include a brief parents’ orientation about the Galileo education program and the Singapore Math teaching program, to be led by Galileo Chief Executive Officer Rowena J. Matti.
Personalities present in the activity were Cebu Provincial Board Member Hon. Miguel Magpale, Provincial Board Committee on Education Vice Chair as well as Provincial DepEd Supervisor Isaiash Wagas.
“By joining hands with Galileo Learning Center we hope to not only improve our educational programs but more importantly contribute to the uplifting of the community,” said Leonora Salvane, GT Northeast Academy president who is also the founder and VP for Operations of the fast growing skin care products brand GTCosmetics.
Originating as a method of making math more understandable to children in the prosperous tiny island-nation of Singapore, Galileo’s Singapore Math program will be employed in teaching math to GT Northeast Academy’s pre-school, elementary, and high school students.
Singapore Math has consistently ranked as the leading program in the world in the past two decades as evaluated by various international studies.
Recently inaugurated last March 2014 and beginning its operations for the school year 2014-2015, the GT Northeast Academy presently has 15 classrooms catering to preschool, elementary, and first year high school or grade 7 students.
GT Northeast Academy also makes use of a computerized school system, including the utilization of Digital Light Processing projectors for interactive learning and a unique ID system wherein parents will be notified of their students’ entry and exit via SMS.
Limiting to 20-25 the number of students in a classroom, GT Northeast Academy also features all fully air-conditioned classrooms and facilities, including the administration offices, principal’s office, faculty lounge, library, canteen, chapel, and even the waiting room for parents are fully air-conditioned.
GT Northeast Academy will open another high school level by 2015, thus the construction of the 3rdand 4th floors of the school building will start this January in order to finish before June of this year. The school just finished its gymnasium and will soon commence construction of its swimming pool. It is also equipped with 3 school buses.
