Megaworld, the country’s leading real estate developer, welcomed the delegates of Miss Earth 2014 in its 28.8-hectare The Mactan Newtown in Lapu Lapu City during their pre-pageant activities in Cebu over the weekend. Megaworld’s The Mactan Newtown served as one of the host venues in the province to promote their advocacy in ecotourism and to synergize the company’s environmental efforts in the township. The company has recently acquired a beachfront to preserve the marine life in the area, while 148 mango trees have been planted along Megaworld Boulevard.
The company also has plans to rehabilitate the famous Mactan Shrine into a bustling tourist attraction surrounded with retail and souvenir shops. The Mactan Newtown is also designed to minimize carbon footprint by integrating high-end office towers, luxury condominiums, lifestyle amenities, retail shops, a La Salle-supervised school, and world-class hotels in one mixed-use development. The Philippines will be the host to this year’s Miss Earth Pageant Night, which will be held on November 29, 2014 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City.
