I was supoosed to blog about SOPA and then this news appeared and can’t help but blog about it. It seems that SOPA is staring to show its foreseen effects in monopolizing the freedom of the internet as the owner and founder of Megaupload Kim Dotcom was arrested n Auckland, and several company executives charged with violating piracy laws, US federal prosecutors said.

Megaupload is one of the most popular Internet services that lets users transfer large documents, music, photos, and movies anonymously. The movie and music industry has accused Megaupload in the past of copyright infringement.

A New York Times report shows Megaupload, run by Kim Schmitz, also know as Kim Dotcom, of causing $500 million in damages to copyright owners and generating more than $175 million in ad revenue and selling premium subscriptions to users.

Authorities arrested Schmitz today at Dotcom Mansion in Auckland, New Zealand this morning. The 37-year-old Schmitz fled to a safe room and police “had to cut their way in,” reports show. When police entered the safe room, Schmitz was found with a shotgun at his side.

“It was definitely not as simple as knocking at the front door,” detective inspector Grant Wormald told the New York Times.

Reports show officers seized $4.8 million in luxury automobiles, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe and a pink 1959 Cadillac. Myriad artworks and electronics also were taken from the estate.

The arrests come one day after websites all over the world conducted a vast protest (Google, Wikipedia, Firefox, Craiglist ,etc )against two bills pending in the American House of Representatives and Senate, known as Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA), respectively.

In other news (Good News),it looks like the SOPA and PIPA bills in the US Congress are dead. Senators have been dropping their co-sponsorship of PIPA as millions of Americans signed an online petitions and e-mailed their representatives on it. (Will post another updates on it.

Google announced off-season spring cleaning spree, which includes the removal of Google Friend Connect and other 6 Google Service, in total, 7 of these Google Service will end starting December this year(some already ended) up to next year with their respective dates. This is really a bad news for those bloggers who are really building up their blog network using Google Friend Connect (GFC), a lot of effort is also placed in terms of promoting their blogs and even held blog giveaways which includes following in Google Friend Connect as one of the mechanics.

Though I am not really that affected because I only have few networks in Google Friend Connect XD, it is still kinda disappointing to remove the services with all the hard work done (especially for bloggers). I know it is out of our control but I think that is part of the plan for Google to focus more on services that are more productive (that’s business).

Here are the other Google Services to be Killed or Ended

RULES:
1. You must post these rules.
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves in their journal.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create eleven new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post
5. Go to their page and tell them you have tagged him/her.
6. No tag backs.
7. No stuff in the tagging section about “you are tagged if you are reading this.” You legitimately (AKA, really, truly, with all honesty)have to tag 11 people.

So it seems I have been  a law abiding blogger :D . Though I have never tagged anyone after this post. I have a better option than this, that is to bookmark bloggers/blogs.

These are my top blog commenters (thanks gorgeous ladies XD) , the advantage of these is that you can open all tabs at once and not to type/click the links button one by one on your page, it is also a very efficient and faster way to bloghop/visit blogs especially those who frequently visits/reads your blog. Most or all web browsers supports page bookmarking so  it is now easy in keeping up with everyone in the bloggosphere. :)
