Instead of catching easter eggs, I spent my Easter day in catching butterflies (virtual literally). SM stores (nationwide) were offering a mini contest in the Easter day celebration by having an online virtual game. The contest requires a particular app which is available for both Android and IOs (Apple) devices, the iButterly Asia. The concept is really very unique and somehow geeky at the sense that you have to use a device to catch butterflies straight from your android and IOs devices.

The interface is really simple, you just only got to have an internet connection in order to access the app (which may be good or bad) and start catching virtual butterflies, each butterfly represents its own product and certain prices. You just have to be vigilant and also quick in catching them (for IOs you have to shake the device to catch the butterflies) which is tough because you have to shake the devices while focusing them in the cross hair. Also looking like a geek in the mall by swinging my device and often looked by some,haha.. who cares..lol

Anyways, yes I caught a lot but it really drains a lot of battery in the device and this is really the first time I have noticed that my device with wifi connection cannot last for 3 hours for straight usage, and the wifi connection in SM is not really that good especially in peak hours (it’s Easter Sunday) which is understandable (forced to used 3G in some instances). Sad to know that I cannot redeem all these prizes because there are limitations in the contest (only maximum of 5 butterflies/prizes can be redeemed).

Overall the concept is really good especially there are many people that are now using android and IOs devices and the game is somehow addictive. I really expect to have more games and events like this in the future.
