I know many of us are busy with the long holy/vacation/rest week, anyhow, let us not forget the true meaning of Holy week and always be thankful to Him for everything that happens in our lives so far (whether good or bad).

Holy Week is the last week of Lent and is the week before Easter Sunday (also known as Easter Day). It starts on Palm Sunday and finishes with the celebration of Easter Sunday. In many churches, during Holy Week, special services are held on everyday up to and including Good Friday.

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday of Holy Week. It represents the day that the Jewish Passover was celebrated in the Bible Story of Easter.

Maundy comes from Latin and is the word for ‘Command’, this is because Jesus commanded his followers to think of him when they ate bread and drank wine. This is very important to Christians and is now remembered in the Christian service known as Communion, Mass or Eucharist.

The ‘Good’ in Good Friday comes from old English when Good meant Holy. So you could call Good Friday, ‘Holy Friday’.

On Good Friday, Christians remember that Jesus died for everyone. He was crucified by the Romans on a hill outside Jerusalem although he had not done anything wrong. When a person was crucified, they were tied and nailed by the wrists and feet to a large wooden cross or scaffold and left to die. This is why a cross if often used as a symbol of the Christian faith.

Black Saturday represents the one full day that Jesus was dead. Is is also sometimes known as Holy Saturday.

This day is also sometimes incorrectly called Easter Saturday (and was by me until I learnt better!). Easter Saturday is the Saturday following Easter Sunday, not the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday!

Easter Sunday or Easter Day is the most important day of the year for Christians. It is when they celebrate that three days after being killed, Jesus rose from the dead.

Easter is a religious holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his death by crucifixion some 2,000 years ago. For Christians, Easter is a day of religious services and the gathering of family.

In many churches Easter is preceded by a season of prayer, abstinence, and fasting called Lent. This is observed in memory of the 40 days’ fast of Christ in the desert. In Eastern Orthodox churches Lent is 50 days. In Western Christendom Lent is observed for six weeks and four days.

An event which is one of the most popular and satisfying of all, the “School Graduation”. Another batch of students are taking on a new journey in their life as school life ends. In graduation ceremonies, many expected to end of a chapter of their of life which is considered the most fun and complicated experience which is school life. I am addressing this article more to those who will be leaving college/school life. True that it is a bit nostalgic in my part because it does bring back all the memories, the fun, melodramatic scenes, crushes, canteen food, school breaks, exams, teachers and everything you can experience in a school life.

As the saying goes.. all good things must come to an end, including the not so good things. So it cannot be a overall bad thing after all, isn’t it?. I mean who would not want to go outside and experience what the real world would be like (except those who are not ready). Though it still depends upon the readiness and preparation of the graduates. Currently more will be added in the job hunters and knowing the state of employment here in the country, it can be a nerve wracking experience especially when you are not confident enough to take on the job hunting process (resume, interview, requirements, etc).

This milestone event does not only give you assurance but also a kind relief (school requirements, exams, cramming, tuition) not only in your part but to also the people around you especially your parents or the one supporting your tuition payments. Give them credit. Your classmates who have been in your side for better (exams, night outs XD ) or for worse (absences, night outs, bad habits, haha), don’t forget theme (add them in FB :D )

I know school life will be missed, this not the end of the so called happiness(in school life) because I tell you, there is more out there in the real world and anything can happen for better or for worse. Enjoy life and congratulations to all the 2012 graduates. :)

Since New Year is fast approaching and while I am still composing my personal New Years Resolution, I have a gathered a list from the web for the most common New Years resolution.

Top New Years Resolution:

1. Stop Smoking
Smoking is injurious to health and it is known to all. Many people cannot give up smoking even after trying a lot. It will not only help you, but it will help everyone else whom you see everyday.

2. Lose Weight – the Battle of the Bulge
This is probably one of the resolutions which are common to many people who always dream of having a beautiful and lean body. Was this one of your resolutions from past year? If so, be encouraged this year to follow it until you see positive results. Make a plan of what you will give up (late night snacks, that extra meal) in exchange for a lean body. You only have to make this shift once in your lifetime to get lasting results.

3. Enjoy Life More.
Life comes once and should be enjoyed as much as possible in the right way. Staying alone and isolated, and staying morose does not help. It is an individual’s duty to motivate oneself more and more so that they can reach the goal that they intend for. As the years are passing by, you are moving closer to the end of life. This should be seen as a positive aspect in life, because it encourages you to enjoy what you have in your life right now. Therefore make a resolution to find a reason everyday to enjoy life, enjoy everything that you do and enjoy every little moment in life, and then the life becomes worth living.

4. Learn Something New and Exciting
Time waits for none and it should never be wasted. There are so many things that a person might engage himself or herself into apart from what they do. Where do you waste most of your time everyday? Do you spend idle time during waiting for the bus or train? Carry a book or an audio book on your career or profession every time you travel. Can you cut down on the time you spend watching TV, and learn a new skill? You’re never too young or old to learn a new skill. Therefore, make a resolution to upgrade your skills.
5. Spend Less,  Save more, Get out of Debt

Many people spend money on unnecessary things without any justification. Money is an important thing in life and should be spent very carefully no matter how rich a person may be. Here’s a simple rule for you to follow in 2012. Before you buy something, always spend some time justifying the reason. You should spend the same amount of time it took you to earn that money on reasoning before you buy. If you do this, you will be able to cut most of the impulse purchases and you will be drawn to a better deal elsewhere.

6. Spend More Time With Family
Your resolutions should include loving family members. Every family member is dependent on each other and so spending time with family is very essential. An individual stays with its family for most of the time and should devote as much time as possible. Something that most successful businessmen and women regret is not spending enough time with their families when they could’ve. Spending time with the family gives a person a chance to know each other, share feelings with each other, share joy and sorrow. This is indeed an important resolution that will give you fulfillment in life.

7. Be Organized – this is one of the keys to reaching your goals
Punctuality and organization is very crucial in a man’s life. People should always organize things accordingly and never delay any work what so ever. Work planning is very important both in office and also in home. This will not only help in becoming a disciplined person but can also help in earning appreciation. In life problems are inevitable but handling these problems in planned and organized way is the main thing. Therefore a person’s resolution must include being disciplined. Simple things such as making a daily goal list before you start the day can go a long way.
