The title post is not a typo , just couldn’t think a better title as of this moment, I still consider this as an event post and a random post at the same time. As I expected many blog post and articles are about valentines. It is true that “valentines is in the air” and also in the “internet”.. though I wont go through the details about valentine stuff etc etc etc… As I know that this day is not really for everyone(especially those without dates..ahem..lolz) .. But of course, you can expect an sms/text or two of greetings from your friends/etc. Sometimes, that would be really enough to go through the day (or survive for some). and the end of it… its just a day

It is also the Chinese New Year which is really rare for this two occasions to occur at the same time(too bad they didn’t declare it a holiday..oh its Sunday). And it is also the year of the “Tiger” which is also my year (cool), though I am not knowledgeable or even a fanatic believer of Chinese-Calendar-Signs-Feng-Shui-stuff. I can’t really help but to get curious , maybe this will be my lucky year I hope…

Happy Valentines Day to all and kung hei fat choi

If you have seen the google search banner/logo as of lately, I can’t help but notice the way banner is shown from its previous. This time though the design is much larger than usual. It shows the opening of the Vancouver winter olympics, starting this day.

Of course, the news about it is really popular in the web. The interesting is that before even the Vancouver Olympic started like having financial concerns and the lack of snow have dampened the glitter of the event(talk about global warming)

Also even before the Olympics have started more than 30 competitors have already been disqualified after testing positive for forbidden substances. (Mayweather is rambling about it against our Manny Pacquiao)

It is still fun to watch though even just I can see and touch an actual snow(if there were any here), that would make a lot fun.

Though it is already an old topic(for some), it still is a phenomenon to everyone who saw the latest video of the dancing inmates in Cebu CPDRC . It was featured yesterday by GMA network by Jessica Soho. Many think that these thugs are forgotten and isolated by society but it seems that they are the once bringing the countries name (Philippines that is) to the globe. They are even more popular than some politicians today currently posting their campaing ads in television.

I wish I could see them perform live if I have the time (except getting imprisoned..lolz) and witness the performance myself. Anyways , here’s the video of the renowned and undisputed Cebu City Dancing Inmates..enjoy

The Aquino family has opted for a private funeral for the late Corazon Aquino instead of a state funeral given to former presidents, according to Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Aquino said this was because his mother had chosen to be a private citizen when she finished her term in 1992, years after she was installed as the first woman president during the People Power revolution.

The democracy icon succumbed to colon cancer 3:18 am, August 1.

“We want to spend as much time as possible as a family,” said Aquino, as he thanked the public for following their advisories that visitors were not allowed at the Heritage Memorial Park.

He added that a necrology service in Malacanang might not be possible.

Between love and madness, lies xenophobia

“I’m not anticipating an offer, I’m not asking for an offer. There’s a point in time that we would want privacy,” he said.

A public viewing, however, has been scheduled at the La Salle Greenhills gym starting 5 pm Saturday until Monday morning. The former president will then be brought to Manila Cathedral for an overnight vigil, requiem masses and necrological services. Interment will be at the Manila Memorial Park on Wednesday, the Aquino family said.

Aquino said his mother will wear her signature yellow dress and will be buried beside her husband, former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, whose assassination sparked the first EDSA revolution.

Fighting back tears during the press conference, Aquino said his sisters have been very emotional, but the death of their mother brought them closer.

“We draw strength from the five of us,” the senator said in a press conference Saturday.

He said he last talked to his mother days ago, before doctors gave the former president morphine to ease her pain.

“We were told to say everything we want to say because after the morphine she will be sleeping all the time,” he said.

He related that instead of complaining about her illness, the former president would first think about her children’s welfare or check what was on the news.

“Nung first time ko magbantay, she would ask me kung kumain na ako. Other times nagbabasa ako ng diyaryo itatanong niya ano laman niyan. She never demonstrated pain,” he said.

Just recently the whole Visayas has been hit by the blackout which resulted in headaches and heat complains from people included in the area, not to mention the terrible heat with very little to none water supply due to down pumps generated by electricity.

An blackout caused by a problem with a transmission line in Leyte province hit several parts of the Visayas area Saturday morning and lasted for about eight hours, a radio report said.

The power outage started at about 9:45 a.m., but power had been partially restored to some areas in the Central Visayas region as of Saturday evening, according Visayas-based Bombo Radyo.

Visayas Electric Company (VECO) vice president for administration Sebastian Lacson said the blackout affected the entire Central Visayas region.

Lacson said 80 percent of the power supply for Central Visayas comes from Leyte.

Source: GMAnewstv

So here we go, just as they say. It’s better to have no electricity than have no water, but that’s not the case here, since out place is included in Visayas Blackout and specifically our water supply pump is generated by electricity so when there is a blackout then there is no water in the faucets which really sucks.

I hate to admit it that during the blackout there is nothing much I can do really, but to wait patiently(if asleep). The blackout started at probably 9.00 AM and back at early 4.00 PM. So being a technology reliant person makes me not as patient as others as most of my work and activities are online and obviously requires electricity. Well, the good thing is that I finally got myself to rest and not to face the monitor or other devices (except for my mobile) for some hours which is I tend to ignore over these past weeks. I hope the blackout will not happen to often ( for the bloggers sake)..:-)

It has been a long time since I’ve been in a resort and luckily the location of the company bday bash is held in a resort in Mactan, so this is gonna be my first review about a resort though I have been to a lot of resorts and beaches here in Cebu particularly in Lapu-lapu. So.. the place is located near white sand beach which we held out xmas party last year near Maribago and Hadsan resort, you can reach there by riding multicab from Mandaue, it is about a 30 40 minute travel straight.

First impression of the place, well.. it’s not that bad for a second class resort (mentioned in our email announcements), the place is so-so, not the best but fairly good for a simple getaway. The place is quite clean and has many trees (which is good especially when it is very hot). cottages are clean and a lot of space for everyone especially this summer time. About swimming though.. I expected that they have a beach side to go with their location but there isn’t. They have 3 swimming pools but have no beach front which is a little bad. But overall it really doesn’t matter as long as you have fun.

It has been a long day at the office and a little fun doesn’t hurt, after all, it is summer time and enjoying the weekends and holidays( coming holy week) can really help release those tensions at work.

Second time for this year the friday the 13th has pop up in the calendars of 2009.

I found this interesting article about Friday the 13th, enjoy

If Friday the 13th is unlucky, then 2009 is an unusually unlucky year. This week’s Friday the 13th is one of three to endure this year.

The first came last month. The next is in November. Such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.

The origin of the link between bad luck and Friday the 13th is murky. The whole thing might date to Biblical times (the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus). By the Middle Ages, both Friday and 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune. In modern times, the superstition permeates society.

Here are five of our favorite Friday-the-13th facts:

1. Fear of Friday the 13th — one of the most popular myths in science — is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.

2. Many hospitals have no room 13, while some tall buildings skip the 13th floor and some airline terminals omit Gate 13.

3. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would not travel on the 13th day of any month and would never host 13 guests at a meal. Napoleon and President Herbert Hoover were also triskaidekaphobic, with an abnormal fear of the number 13.

4. Mark Twain once was the 13th guest at a dinner party. A friend warned him not to go. “It was bad luck,” Twain later told the friend. “They only had food for 12.” Superstitious diners in Paris can hire a quatorzieme, or professional 14th guest.

5. The number 13 suffers from its position after 12, according to numerologists who consider the latter to be a complete number — 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 labors of Hercules, 12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles of Jesus, 12 days of Christmas and 12 eggs in a dozen.

Pythagorean legacy

Meanwhile the belief that numbers are connected to life and physical things — called numerology — has a long history.

“You can trace it all the way from the followers of Pythagoras, whose maxim to describe the universe was ‘all is number,’” says Mario Livio, an astrophysicist and author of “The Equation That Couldn’t Be Solved” (Simon & Schuster, 2005). Thinkers who studied under the famous Greek mathematician combined numbers in different ways to explain everything around them, Livio said.

In modern times, numerology has become a type of para-science, much like the meaningless predictions of astrology, scientists say.

“People are subconsciously drawn towards specific numbers because they know that they need the experiences, attributes or lessons associated with them, that are contained within their potential,” says professional numerologist Sonia Ducie. “Numerology can ‘make sense’ of an individual’s life (health, career, relationships, situations and issues) by recognizing which number cycle they are in, and by giving them clarity.”

However, mathematicians dismiss numerology, saying it lacks any scientific merit.

“I don’t endorse this at all,” Livio said, when asked to comment on the popularity of commercial numerology. Seemingly coincidental connections between numbers will always appear if you look hard enough, he said.

Before people can enjoy celebrate the valentines day, there is the day where many of us find it the unlucky and scary day for us. Though many of us (including me) dont believe this kind of stuff, why not mention it since it is the friday the 13th. I mean let’s just elaborate some of the facts that is connecting to this day and I mean facts. Just a little stock of knowledge for everyone out there.

Enjoy..:)

1. It’s been estimated that $800 or $900 million (U.S.) is lost in business on this day because people will not fly or do business they would normally do. 2. No historical date has been verifiably identified as the origin of the superstition. Before the 20th century, although there is evidence that the number 13 was considered unlucky, and Friday was considered unlucky; there was no link between them.
3. The first documented mention of a “Friday the 13th” is generally listed as occurring in the early 1900’s.[
4. A Friday occurring on the 13th day of any month is considered to be a day of bad luck in English, German, Polish and Portuguese-speaking cultures around the globe.
5. Many people are so paralyzed by fear that they are simply unable to get out of bed when Friday the 13th rolls around. The Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute estimates that more than 17 million people are affected by a fear of this day.
6. The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia.
7. Every year has at least one, and at most three Fridays the 13th, with 48 occurrences in 28 years an average of 1.7 times per year. The reason, this is the evidence: twenty-eight years have 336 months and 336 also equals seven times forty-eight.
8. A study published in The British Medical Journal (1993) has shown that there is a significant increase in traffic-related accidents on Friday the 13ths.
9. Friday the 13th is also known as “Dooms day” all around the world.
10. Many popular stories exist about the origin of the concept: The popular painting of the Last Supper, with stories that Judas numbered among the thirteen guests (Jesus plus his 12 apostles), and that the Crucifixion of Jesus occurred Friday. The Knights Templar is another popular theory: recently offered up as historical fact in the novel The Da Vinci Code, holds that it came about not as the result of a convergence, but a catastrophe, a single historical event that happened nearly 700 years ago.
