As we speak some people are already panicking regarding the tsunami alert 2 which was announced by Phivolcs, there are many establishments that are closing down , people running in the streets (I even saw one without slippers) looking for high ground. Gasoline stations closing, some or most of the classes and workplace  are all cancelled.

I will tell you that the Cebu Tsunami is a Hoax, some people even told me that baranggay Mambaling is already flooded and some parts of Talisay, Toledo and other areas near the shore which is not true. (spread the news)

People running in the streets is probably the one triggered the  panic with news misinformation, I mean, it really affected the way they see the situation. Many are stranded due to heavy traffic and people are even having a hard time commuting due to many Bus and jeepneys stopped riding due to panic and worry.

I am currently listening to a radio were there are reported 4 confirmed killed (as we speak)  in Negros Oriental which was the epicenter of the Earthquake with intensity 7.

The Tsunami is a false alarm here in Cebu, but just be reminded to be always vigilant and don’t forget to pray in these tough times.

Negros Earthquake Epicenter

Earthquake in the Visayas also occurred earlier here in Cebu, reportedly coming from Negros as the epicenter with the strongest magnitude of 7. Buildings are immediately evacuated for safety especially those in the high /skyrise buildings.

Even malls are evacuated and temporarily close like SM City Cebu to ensure safety.

A magnitude 6.9 quake struck between the islands of Negros and Cebu before noon Monday,t.  Phivolcs said the quake struck 5 kilometers northwest of Tayasan, Negros Oriental at 11: 49 a.m.

It cost a lot of traffic especially in Cellphone / mobile signals making it difficult for subscribers to contact , call and even send text messages / SMS after the earthquake.  It was reported that some power lines were knockdown during the earthquake.

Update:

Tsunami is a FALSE ALARM confirmed from Phivolcs.

Globe Run For Home 2012 this March 25, 2012

Get Ready for another big Marathon Event in Cebu by Globe.

All roads lead to the Queen City of the South as Cebu becomes the official home of this
year’s Globe Run4Home, one of the biggest and most awaited running events in the country
with the many innovations it pioneered in Philippine marathon history.

The Globe Run4Home 2012 races to the Cebu International Convention Center on
March 25, 2012 gathering not only the running community of Cebu, but also its legion of running
aficionados in Manila and key cities nationwide to celebrate a common cause: help provide
sustainable shelter to those in need, especially victims of Typhoon Sendong.

Globe taps previous Run4Home beneficiaries Gawad Kalinga and Habitat for Humanity
Philippines to help raise funds for their housing development projects for the typhoon victims
in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro respectively. Completing the roster of partner-beneficiaries
are Cebu Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, a Cebu-based organization that aims to
transform communities in key biodiversity areas into becoming more effective stewards of the
environment, and the Philippine Tarsier Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit organization that
spearheads a massive campaign to save the Philippine Tarsier and preserve its habitat.

Registration fees per category are
P300 = 3K
P400 = 5K
P500 = 10K
P600 = 15K
P700 = 21K

The most affordable registration rate ever in Globe Run4Home history,
making the running event more accessible to the growing running community, especially in
Cebu. The registration fee entitles runners to their race shirts available in various sizes, race
bib number, timing chip, and finisher’s medal for the 21K category. A portion of the runners’
registration fees will be donated to their beneficiary of choice to support their respective
advocacies and programs.

In order to attract more participants, group runners are also encouraged to join—with a
special treat. For groups of four running in the same category, they will be allowed to bring in a
fifth member for free.

Join the Globe Run4Home 2012 and be part of a nationwide revolution towards inspiring
hope for the less privileged families, communities, endangered species, and key biodiversity
areas. Registration starts on February 1, 2012 via www.globe.com.ph/run or at the Paseo de
Ciudad, 1st level, Ayala Center, Cebu City. Globe Run4Home 2012 is supported by Alaska,
