October 1 is Cebu Korea Day

  • SumoMe

It seems that I am in semi hiatus mode again πŸ™ .. Though I tried my best to update my blogs (yes, I have more than 1 blog ), though I posted some (Cebu)events which is a part of niche in this blog aside from semi-personal niche πŸ˜€

The 1st Cebu Korea K-POP Champion (This is my first youtube upload..lol)

I recently posted this particular event about the first ever Cebu Korea Day, it is very interesting that with all the Korean influence in the Philippines, we are able to adapt to some of their cultures and even imitate their styles. Though I am not fond personally of Korean Films, though I have watched some of their movies which is frankly great. Popular Korean Novelas are popping out like mushrooms and K-Pop groups and fans are getting visible in the public and that is why a day is dedicated for the Koreans in Cebu as the “Cebu Korea Day”.

It is a three day event which started in 3 day Korean Film Festival featuring popular Korean movies at its best for free. I was able to come in 2nd and 3rd day which features contest and presentations.

Actually I arrived there after attending the Cebu Comic Convention event which I will make a separate post about it :). One I like the most was the search for the first “Cebu Korea K-Pop star” which was I was trulu entertained with the contestants presentations. There was also this Korean dance number in which the lady fans started screaming (I almost became deaf lol ).

I think I should stop talking/writing first and post here some pictures and evidences from the event.. πŸ˜€

  1. I didn’t know Cebu celebrates Korean day. Lol

Koreans are invading Philippines as well. I don’t know if I should take this as a good thing or not. But I’m really glad to see them around. πŸ™‚

    • Actually it is the “1st Cebu Korea Day” celebrated and it’s officially declared by the Cebu City government. Yes, it can be a good thing or otherwise. Though it is good for the tourism here. πŸ™‚

  2. not a korean fan but it’s good that Cebu also celebrate it. Maybe there are lots of Korean in Cebu now huh. At least they’re not ignored and are very welcome and just like home. πŸ™‚

  3. you know, with all the Koreans in Cebu right now, i wouldn’t be surprised that they’re gonna have an event like this πŸ™‚ aww i wish i could’ve gone, it looks so interesting and fun… πŸ˜€

  4. Waah! Girls Generation πŸ™‚ I thought it was really them *girl crush* hihi

  5. I’ve actually learned about this from someone in twitter πŸ™‚
I’m a super fan of KPOP (SNSD is my #1 group) and it would be nice to have that day here in Manila.
And yes there are so many koreans now in the Philippines.

  6. Not a fan of koreans, and I hate Filipinos who imitates korean looks.. I don’t hate koreans just not a fan. lol Yung iba kasing Filipino trying hard masyado mag imitate :/

    • haha.. ok lang yan, para naman yan sa tourism and for those who are teaching (ESL). But yes as long as it will not lose our identity as Filipinos πŸ˜€

  7. Sounds great! I love these kinds of celebrations. I am not a fan of Korean entertainment though. My brother is, but I am not as keen. Sounds like you had a good time and it was worth it. ^_^

  8. Wow! Cebu actually celebrates Korean Day? Pretty cool. I’m not a fan of K-Pop but I appreciate their catchy songs and sometimes, they even get stuck in my head for days . . . even weeks. =)

  9. ayy grabe may ganyan sa Cebu? haha First palang ba yan? Sana magtuloy-tuloy yan. Malay mo sumikat tas malaman ng mga Korean, magvisit diba hahaha

    • There are many Koreans indeed here in Cebu, I have read a tweet that there are currently 20,000 and they are considered residents here (not verified yet but will research about it) XD

  12. Lovely πŸ™‚ Ah, one day I want to visit S.Korea! The Cebu Korea Day seems interesting.

  13. I’m not fan of them. may chubby pala sakanila ? seeing their pictures. it seems na they had all the same figures xD

  14. Wow. I didn’t know that korean days exist. Hihi!

  15. That looks fun! I like these cultural day celebrations πŸ˜€Β Considering how popular Korean pop culture is, it’s not that surprising that there’s a Korea day. xD

  16. I think it’s kinda annoying that Filipinos get to celebrate a Korean day when we can’t even love our own.. I mean, seriously, do you know any high class Filipino (or maybe a social climber, if I may say) that loves local songs? As far as I can see on my FB newsfeed, people are mostly posting a foreign YouTube link.. and if someone posts a tagalog song, they’ll all make fun of it and post comments like BADUY MO PARE! It irritates me! sigh.. anyway, I’m just sharing my thoughts about this event.. no, not just for this event, but for everyone else who acts as if they despise the Filipino culture, art, traditions, etc.. -_-
